At Hub City Church, we take the Bible seriously. Believing the Bible to be God's very Words, inspired and revealed by the one Holy Spirit and is a central part of the life of our community.

Because the Bible is God's revealed Word, it is completely trustworthy and completely true.

Here are some truths about the Bible:

  • The Bible is the ultimate authority in the life of the church and the life of a Christ Follower. God's Word is the source of Truth; this means the Bible is not subject to our interpretation, but we, rather, are subject to its authority. We do not seek to conform the writings of Scripture to our understanding and standards of life, but rather we seek to conform our lives to the understandings and standards of Scripture. While God may continue to speak and reveal truth outside the confines of Scripture, all truth is subject to the scrutiny of the Bible.

  • The Bible is a necessary and essential part in the life of the church and the lives of believers. Without God's revelation of his Gospel in the Bible, we could neither come to know God, nor grow in our relationship with God.

  • Likewise, the Bible is sufficient. It contains all truth necessary for mankind to know God and come into a saving relationship with him.

  • Finally, we believe the Bible to be understandable in its teachings and truth. While there are difficult passages, the basic message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is clear in scripture, and can be understood by both the hyper-intelligent and the supremely-simple alike.

Not only do we take the Bible seriously, but Jesus did as well. Throughout his ministry and teachings, Jesus refers to and quotes from the Bible hundreds of times, recognizing it to be the Word of God that his life was based upon. As his followers, the Bible is not only the basis that our lives are built on, but it is also a source of tremendous joy and delight. We view the Bible as a precious treasure that deserves to be studied, meditated upon, and obeyed.

2 Timothy 3:15–17 NIV

15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Peter 1:20–21 NIV

20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

John 17:17 NIV

17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
